Look at you, holmes, all listed on DMOZ and shiiiiit. I hope you like your tag line; it looks like you’re stuck with it.
The tag line is great, though it may evolve. You see Kris, I’m in pretty tight with the kind folks over at dmoz. That means if I say it needs to get changed they will do it for me.
dmoz so rocks.
About the PEZ connection; I do plan on fixing up the www.libraryman.com/pez.htm PEZ pages though and will highlight them when that happens. The ones I have up now need major retooling. It should be fun to do though as the potential for an attractive and fun section of the web site is pretty obvious when it comes to PEZ, no?
Thanks for the Library Blog list, MP! Believe it or not, it came in very handy on a job application I’m working on. Who knew?
Ain’t no thang but a chicken wing, girl.
Glad to hear the blog has already been useful. That’s really my ultimate goal here. Were you as surprised as I was at the number of Library blogs that are out there? Once again proof positive that Librarians do so rock!
Wow, and the Kennebunk Blog showed up on there too. I thought you had to submit sites to dmoz to get them listed? And thank the Little Baby Jesus I decided not to go with my original choice for the title: “KenneBlog.”
So I’m thinking of starting a third blog, on account of I have too many brain droppings for just two websites. I want to call the new one “Heavy Metal Librarian.” Hey, if there can be an Indie Rock Librarian and a Rockabilly Librarian, why not?
How about “Swedish Death Metal Librarian”?

Are you kidding?! Are you f!@$ing kidding me??? Swedish Death Metal? I had NO IDEA I could find this shit in my new home. Thank god for you, Michael Porter…thank god for you!
You are very welcome, Tracey.
I am here to serve. Swedish death metal is rich in tradition and it’s good that you know about it now. I would however reccomend that you not listen to it. It’s a bit over the top imho.
I never thought I’d agree with MP about anything concerning music, but on this point, I must concur. If you consider Slayer to be easy listening, you might like Swedish Death Metal. Otherwise, not so much.
Hey man, thanks for representing dmoz. I edit the LIS/Weblogs category and appreciate the support (although I wonder how in you really are with the folks at the directory
). As far as site descriptions are concerned, you’d be surprised how difficult it is to come up with remotely fresh-sounding blurbs for 100+ similar sites. If I noticed you changing your tagline regularly, I’d probably move to a description not based on it, because the idea is really to establish a static description.
To answer Aaron, sites do not need to be submitted to be added (finding them is part of the joys of my job), but submissions are welcome and encouraged. I’m always on the lookout, which is how Aaron Is Not Amused was discovered.
Anyway Michael, can’t wait to see what you do here.

I have a t-shirt with an Atari 2600 joystick picture on it and underneath that is says “Represent”. Yep, I’ll represent the dmoz and the 2600 any ole’ day.
I do appreciate the comment and the answers so thanks, Greg. I’ll be sure to think any tagline changes through carefully before I change them. It?s good to know how that works on your end. For now though I am happy getting people here simply by hooking them (hopefully) with the PEZ line.
btw, did anybody read the super hilarious article in The Onion about the guy who finally lives on his own and stays up all night simply because he can, always eats sugared cereals from his youth and collects 2600 games avidly? The last line was something like “There is nothing more depressing than a 45 year old PEZ collector?. It was like a motivational poster or something. *snicker*
