Or try “More Bounce To The Ounce” by Zapp. Oh my goodness!
There was a huge uproar when the new AMG premiered. For a few days they threw up a bright yellow banner telling all non-IE users to get a real browser (my words). I don’t think it’s much of an improvement; if anything a step back, as the new UI confuses me and is unnecessarily cluttered. But it’s pretty for sure . . .
Gotta search some about this, but Musicmatch uses AMGs services. Musicmatch which is in the process of being purchased/controlled by Yahoo, which is changing or trying to change lots of things about our online business. It stands to reason they might let something like this happen. I don’t like the scrolling you have to do now, but do like the search criteria you can use. Plus, it’s still a useful service, even if you have to use a “real” browser and even register to use it.
I agree that the new design sucks. I especially hate that when you click on an album description, you don’t get the whole thing, just an “overview,” and then you have to click on a second tab to read the whole thing. Moreover, when you click on a review, the Discography tab disappears, so you have to hit the back arrow several times to get back to the list of albums. Also, the site is slow as hell.
So do you guys know of or use any substantially better alternatives?
I still use All Music, but not for its UI. I really like Stephen Thomas Erlewine — he’s a good writer and reviewer — I and use it for general discography info. But I don’t surf it like a I used to, back when everything was one or two clicks away. It’s just too laborious.
FYI, Windows Media Player also uses All Music to fill in details. Those types of services is how probably how they continue to make money.
