It?s Not Easy Being Green
Envy kicked in with a vengeance last night when I read the post(s) from the It?s All Good ?Library Blogger Salon? at ALA in Chicago. Upon initial read you might guess that ?Library Saloon? might be a more apt description of the meeting, but that would be wildly missing the point. Having that amount of Libraryland brain power, thoughtfulness, professionalism and reputation in one room must surely violate some sort of building code. Oh the conversations I missed!!! Doesn?t this seem like an event that Libraryman should MC? It may be worth noting that he counts bartending among his super powers. Did I mention I?m green with envy?

I wished most of all that I might have have looked across the room and noted you chatting with Jenny and Jessamyn…Next time, Libraryman?? Next time?
Well, Michael, you’ll just have to convince your boss and his boss that you have to go to ALA! My boss did promise there’ll be another gathering at ALA MW.
And you’ll have to fight Eric Childress for the bartending job…he did a fab job *and* he had a suit and tie on!
I’m bummed because I meant to go but ended up NOT going due to transportation problems (my hotel turned out to be in a nasty-bad area of Chicago, and I wanted to get back to it before dark. Damn my being a timid little woman from the countryside! DAMN!)
I’m certainly not a big name in the blogging world (YET) but I sure wanted to meet the rest of you all (especially Libraryman, of course!) Rubbing elbows with the best. Ah well, hopefully next time.
We missed you! Alane’s nice to compliment my poor bartending skills. And truth be told I was much aided by OCLC VP George Needham, and we were both blessed to have such a patient clientele. We’ll both be happy to have you spot us at the bar next ALA. Now, if I can just get that Cabernet stain out of my tie…
Thanks for stopping by guys! I’m wondering if being assitant bartender at a party would really justify my ALA trip expenses. Hmmm… I mean OCLC likes to kick back with the best of them, but this might be a bit much to ask. Better work on being more “value added” than that, eh?
My favorite justification for value-add is “key grip.” Because who knows what a grip does? But of course, you are *key* and of course, that is what really matters.
Perhaps I could share my key grip-ness with Libraryman…
So you’re saying I need to get a grip?
*Insert best boy joke here*
And yes, without a doubt you should share.
