Seeking Your Library Technology Quotes!

As part of the Emerging Library Technology workshop I am busy working on, I am humbly asking you for your library technology thoughts and quotes. You fine folks are the ones that know and use these tools and your ideas and thought could really be encouraging and/useful to many folks attending these workshops (and there will be many of these workshops in lots of states!).

Please (pretty please?) share your “Quotable Quotes” about any of the following:

Both positive and negative thoughts are encouraged as well.     We’ve set up six blogs at our public library - two for the public and four for staff. Of these, only one has great participation - the staff blog where everyone on the entire staff can posts comments about books they have read, movies or DVDs they watched, or music they’ve listened to. I think it’s so popular because I asked for staff interest prior to starting it and then personally e-mailed everyone on our support staff to invite them to participate. If you don’t get staff buy-in, then it is very hard to get group participation in comments or postings. I also linked an instruction page right to our Intranet so everyone has access to the URL and how to post. If we do additional blogs, this will certainly be a regular part of the process!

    I would be great to come and teach this workshop in Taiwan! We have a fee schedule for this type of training, which actually does happen on occasion. Of course the travel costs might be a little bit much. Yikes!

    Beyond the scheduled workshops we have planned, I’ll be doing several special single institution training sessions like this over the next several months. The only difference really is that they are in California or Washington or Oregon and you are in Taiwan.

    LOL, thanks for the joke. What does a “long face” mean in the American culture? For us, if we say “a horse doesn’t know it has a long face” to someone, we mean that person is very brazen. :)
    One of my colleague is a Director of the library commitee of the Library Association of R.O.C.(Republic of China=Taiwan). Maybe you want to get in touch with them? :D
