		<description>I think it is interesting.  I think it is interesting that there isn't a flickr-ish service  operating out of Libraryland already.  You know, hosted images, with a requirement for access and image description.  Of course, this doesn't fit a traditional library model and would need to be worked over for a long while before it could launch, but it seems a natural fit. If this were done properly and issues like this were analysed upfront, problems like this could be avoided in some cases.

But you know, if a country has a law that companies are required to follow, that is that.  You can (and often should) fight to get the law changed, but for issues like this I do see why they went to way they did.  Flickr is a company, not a library, so it doesn't surprise me at all.  I would guess that flickr is more interested in making $ than fighting for intellectual freedom.  Libraries on the other hand, are sometimes allowed to pursue higher issues as a part of their core mission.
